  CNY Celebration Pt 1
My attempts to by funny which left me falling flat on my face. My brother and his family are at another side of the table and they wanted anonymity. HAHAHAHA!!!
What's CNY without some form of gambling. The winnings are pittance to the winner and pain to the losers.
On the way to some relative's place inside my cousin's car.
It was the first day of CNY and my aunty did not want my grandma to cook, so we went to this chinese restaurant which was open. Heard of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table? This is Grandma and the Kids (and Grandkids) of the Long Table.
The outside of my cousin's car.

  HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR

The House is just about ready for CNY
This will be placed outside the house. Our block is undergoing upgrading and they had put those aluminium sheets outside our door forming a small cubicle. My father planned to put this outside on the aluminium sheet. The titbits and drink on a table. My nephew is really happy about it.
Mandarin oranges to be exchanged with relatives. I am more interested in the red packets.

  CNY is coming
A small kumquat and a chocolate gold coin.
My nephew's school was doing some pre-CNY stuff. He coloured this and his teacher folded into a little bag for him and in it was the kumquat and small gold coin that you see above.

When I was younger, I was lucky not to get smacked for dirtying my clothes in school.

  My Blog is worth peanuts
By that I meant miniscule, minimum etc...
If you look at the button on the right-hand side, my blog is worth $560... You guys this is really little, I mean go on humour me, check this blog more often so that I can at least reach $1k.

I mean not as if I can sell it, at least I know how much it's worth. But I spent my sweats, tears, blood and looking over my shoulders to do it.

So get your friends and enemies, your husbands, your wives, your paramours, your relatives and even your pets to look at it.

Go on, this is a sincere plea to at least make it worth a thousand dollars.

I know I am not Xiaxue, Miss Izzy, mrbrown, Kenny Sia but please please please help me out here.

(i know i am lame)

  Another retail boo boo

Again, as I was saying yesterday, the retail staff at this store could not stop displaying their stocks or hanging up decor. I understand the aesthetics but why treat your customers as nuisances?

When I went to this stall, the staff kept 'scuse scuse to everyone standing at their aisle only to put this big ladder blocking everyone's path. Then this fella walked away and wasn't seen again.

To add on to everyone's chagrin, other staff "shoo-ed" other customers away as they wanted to put up the x'mas decorations on the ceiling (i know I am like a month late for this post).

So to all retail shops out there, I just want to say, "CUSTOMERS ARE NOT THE ENEMY!!!"

  Fish ball.
Brown man: So what I am trying to say is eating fish balls at every dinner is not what I call a healthy diet, I don't mind salmon, cod fish or some other fish(es) which I can actually see the eyes, fins and tail but fish that comes in balls are just not so cool dude.

Yellow-shirt boy: I'll think deeply and reflect on what you just said.

  Some Early CNY Shopping
Four words will suffice, "BIG BUTT GO AWAY!!!"

Do not understand these retail shops. On one hand, they said business is suffering on the other hand when you wanted to shop they keep blocking your way and everything you touch and put back they had to re-arrange.

NEXT TIME, DON'T COMPLAIN YOU BODOHS!!! IT'S YOUR FAULT!!! YOU THINK WE WANNA SEE YOUR BLACK PAPAYA FACE WHEN WE SHOP ISSIT? YOU THINK YOU ARE CHERIE CHUNG OR HEIDI KLUM, KEEP WALKING TO AND FRO AND ASK TO CUSTOMERS TO 'SCUSE HERE AND THERE.

IF YOU THINK YOU DON'T WANT US TO TOUCH YOUR STUFF, DON'T DISPLAY IT!!! *SIAO* *CHEE SEEN* *GILA ORANG*

  Food and Coffee Review
Venue: One of the many branches of McDonald's.
Cost: SGD$6.95.
Food: Grilled Chicken Foldever Set Meal (inclusive of drink and salty...er I mean french fries).
Review: Two grilled pieces of chicken meat with some vegetables caught in between a ?tortilla. Supposedly one of the healthier version of any fast-food food out there. It seems pretty delicious and the first bite was a burst of mayonnaise and crispy veggies. The chicken patties were thin so I tasted more mayo and ?tortilla. Overall, it's palatable and I wouldn't mind eating this again but the price is kinda steep for two thin patties.
Ambience: Crowded.
Service: This time I didn't make any special request so service was prompt and was served with a smile.
Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 burgers.
Where: One of the many Starbucks branches out there.
What: Iced Caramel Machiatto.
Cost: Forgot.
Review: Despite its appearance, it tasted like Ya Kun's kopi-bing at definitely a cheaper price. I drank the coffee first without stirring, it was sweet with a taste of caramel. Then I stirred it. The sweetness was gone and was replaced with the bitter taste of espresso.
This drink is addictive and I drank it two days in a row and would definitely be back for more despite it's suspiciously Ya Kun kopi-bing's taste.
Ambience: If you had been to one cafe, you've been to all.
Service: Commendable and prompt. The barista was polite.
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 espressos.

  Chinese New Year Goodies
You know CNY is here when you see all these goodies bundled up and given auspicious names like "Jin Yu Man Tang" when all they have are cashew nuts. *Sheesh* Or "Yi Fan Feng Shun" when it's actually shrimp rolls.
This is known as nian gao. A sticky cake made of brown sugar and flour etc. You wait for it to harden before opening it up and you can fry it with egg or some steam it and douse it with coconut shreds.
What we bought for CNY. Cuttlefish cubes, pine nuts, melon seeds and pistachios and some other sweets that you would not want to buy if not for CNY.

For Being a Good Boy In School
His fave Kueh Bahulu.
Bak Kwa and marshmellow.

I Demand a Right to be HEARD

I demand a right to be heard (over a cup of pineapple water). If I say I wanted Thomas The Tank Engine, I mean it!!! Do not give me Bob The Builder. They are two different kinds of characters. Get that in your head!!!!!!!!!!!

War Of The Parents / Guardians
Freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands............
Where's my kid??? Pushing and shoving. Enough to render the fearless fearful. You see Singaporeans q-ing for their fave bak kwa and food but when it comes to fetching their kids is different. They push and shoved until the kids cry or become red-eyed. What a disgrace.
Here my father managed to fish my nephew out from the pandomenium (sp?). As you can see from the camera shot, they were hurrying up as more parents and guardians converged on the entrance.
15 mins before school was let out, people were converging at the entrance.
10 mins before, people were at the entrance, my father been the tallest was pushed and shoved by the shorter ones away as they wanted to get their kid(s) first. Who cares about other parents / guardians? The old man in green with white hair decided it was too much for him and stood aside.

  Coffee Review
Apologies for the blurred picture. Opposite my table were some ah lians and I didn't want them to pose for my camera as they were behaving as if they were the most beautiful girls on the planet.

I tried the "new" Mocha Valencia from your friendly neighbourhood Starbucks. Service was commendable however I wouldn't drink this even if it was given to me free. Why? It's downright bitter with a slight tease of orange zest. I had to ask for two cups of plain water to neutralise the bitter after taste.

I'll glady drink other stuff from their menu but I'll pass of this Mocha Valencia. Thank you.

Pink Lady: Aiyoh....

  Chinese New Year is Coming.......
You start to see New Year cards on the table that my mom bought meant for relatives.
The problem is the New Year Cards took up half the table and the other-half was filled with my nephew's stuff. But goodydaze's family won't be deterred somehow or rather we will clear it even if it meant stuffing it in some spare cabinet to be taken out when CNY is over.

My Nephew's First Day of School
This pic was taken off my brother's cell phone. He had a pretty good first day.

I was Saying I wanted to lose 2 kg before Chinese New Year
I was a really good girl yesterday. I had 2 slices of wholemeal bread, plain for breakfast followed by a really small portion of duck rice had to beg a colleague of mine to take the rest of my rice then when it comes to dinner, I had Seoul Garden buffet courtesy of my brother who wanted to reward my nephew for being a good boy during his first day of school. It's back to square one for me.
As you can see, I really enjoyed myself.

I guess it's back to the weights for me...

  Food Review
Name: Chicken Fan-tastic.

Containing: A piece of chicken meat with skin slapped between 2 patties of rice (a la Mos Burger) with some veggies and fries.

Findings: I got mine fresh from the kitchen. Overall tasty but disliked the chicken skin (a woman's bane) and had to remove the oily skin from the oily piece of chicken. The chicken was quite palatable and it actually contains chicken. It was crispy on the outside and almost succulent on the inside.

However, the chicken was too oily for my liking, considering I am aiming to lose at least 2 kg before Chinese New Year. The rice patties however was a surprise, I actually liked it.

The fries as usual are limp and salty. I stopped eating it after 3 fries (and the mucus-secreting kid at the next table were eyeing it with open-mouthed glee).

Service: Beggars improvement. I told Aunty mid-40s that I wanted iced milo instead of the carbonated drink at least twice and in voila I got served carbonated drink.

Rating: 3 out of 5 burgers.

  Enggrish Lesson Veli Good 2.
My father obviously did not understand the written instructions and resorted to the illustrations.
It says "Hand-pressing Flash Light" but at the bottom it says "Shake The Flashlight". So u want me to "Hand-press" or "Shake"? Me no understand.
Paraphrasing the instructions "....make you brain clever....good for hand eye co ordinate...improve blood circulation...because of moving hands...good for memory... overall health...good for several lifts...good for exercise....

I should not continue.....

  So I croc now
I gave in to the madness and bought this, setting me back $39.90. My father frowned when he saw this, he kept saying that this rubber can be easily bought for less than $2 a tube (and a large tube too)...blah blah blah...

This blog shall be a happy one, full of mundane stuff. As HH Dalai Lama always said, every being wants happiness and kindness. Yes...Now it's the time for the Dayz of My Life.
